A delicious and easy-to-make Japanese-inspired tofu bowl with savory teriyaki sauce and rice.
Ingredients
Tofu

medium-firm tofu (momen dofu) (1 block)

cooked Japanese short-grain rice (typically 1⅔ cups (250 g) per donburi serving)

Instructions
Cook the rice according to your preferred method and set aside.
Press and cut the tofu into cubes, then coat with starch.
Heat 1.5 tbsp oil in a pan and fry tofu until golden. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, combine sake, mirin, soy sauce, and sugar; simmer to make teriyaki sauce.
Return tofu to the pan, coat with sauce, then serve over rice, garnished with sliced scallion and sesame seeds.
Notes
Ensure to press the tofu well to remove excess moisture for crispier results.
